I chose to research about the
work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, I thought it seemed practical to look up the
work of him as I was brought up with his work all around me as our family home
is based of his “Hill House” and we have his furniture and art work found
thought our home. This then gave me the interest to look into his work.
Robertson, P (Ed). (1990). Charles
Rennie Mackintosh the architectural papers. Wendlebury, U.K.: White Cockade in
association with the Hunterian Art Gallery.
This book is an edited book about Charles R Mackintosh’s architecture that has architectural writings from him along with work written by other writer such as Pamela Robertson, James Macaulay and Robert Macleod. This book could be a useful source because it gives writing by Charles R Mackintosh and other designers who give different views and ideas on his work.

Crawford, A. (1995). Charles Rennie Mackintosh. London U.K.: Themes and Hudson Ltd.
This book written by Allen
Crawford and is the story of Charles R Mackintosh’s life and work. In the
foreword of the book Crawford outlines that there are some of his early works
in his life were unable to be rediscovered. But I still believe that this book
would be helpful with information to do with Charles R Mackintosh due to how it
outlines his life and focuses on most of his work.
This scholarly journal shows the different arguments
within the work of Charles R Mackintosh that different designers have towards
him and his creations, such as what style his work is, Art Nouveau or
protoDeco. I feel that this Journal would be good as it covers a wide range of
points of view to do with Mackintosh’s work.

This website is the Charles Rennie Mackintosh
website, it gives a lot of information about his buildings, furniture and other
pieces of his work. The page I decided to focus on is the one about Mackintosh
himself. This page gives the overview of
his life and work. I believe that this page is a good source as it shows how
the people befitting for his creations have sugarcoated his life and decisions
to ensure that they receive the possible result and profit from his work.

Room de Luxe at The Willow
Tearooms, Retrieved 28 June 2009, from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Room_de_Luxe.jpg.
This photo was taken in the
Willow Tearooms in Glasgow, Scotland. This photo shows the style of Charles R
Mackintosh and how he incorporates simple geometric shapes and symmetry into
his work in a way that makes them interesting and unique. I feel that this
image could be a useful source as it shows a wide rage of Mackintosh’s work
such as the chair’s and the stain glass windows. This then helping to reinforce
how he presented and envisioned his designs and work.
